 Many of you will wonder what an association called Kairòs and Krònos can be about ... The answer lies in the willingness of three friends, Giuditta, Pierluigi and Merilù that, during the summer of 2008 tried to challenge themselves. Everything comes from the idea to participate in the regional project Principi Attivi: young ideas for a better Apulia, as a part of the broader agenda of Bollenti Spiriti, sponsored by the transparency and active citizenship policies of Regione Puglia. As many of you already know, this was a regional call aimed at "investing" in young people aged 18 to 32, through the granting of public funds amounting to Euro 25,000.00 to be spent within the period of one year as stated by the draft submitted and approved by the region.
Everything came by chance .. we heard about this project, we met and then asked to each other: "why don’t we try?". We met all the project requirements and really wanted to do it .. we had to get to work only. Our project "From the castle to the world” was born in this way. The project for the promotion and integrated use of artistic and environmental heritage of Carovigno, relating to the international incoming tourism, was presented by the informal group and turned into Kairòs and Krònos, cultural and tourist association.
The translation for Kairòs and Krònos is "change in time" ... And we thought that it was time for Carovigno to change. Change in a positive way the idea of culture and tourism in the area, improve it, give voice to unspoken resources. In our opinion Carovigno had and still has all the potential resources to become a tourist and cultural center, far away from the exclusive logic of seaside and seasonal tourism. We wanted to define these untapped hidden resources because they are real gems, small and large treasures waiting to be revealed. Our intention was to organize and promote, within a year-time, researches, events, conferences, tours, concerts, workshops and much more ... to make the castle and the whole city revive, make sustainable tourism concrete and culture more accessible, appreciate our land not just because it is close to the sea.
Members of Regione Puglia believed in us and trusted us .. you can do it as well. Support us and wish us good luck. Carovigno and its citizens need that. And, keep up the good work, Kairòs and Krònos!
